A: Dog Daze Playcare offers full-day daycare for dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. We also offer private training, grooming, boarding and special treats. Our staff of experienced dog trainers and handlers offers exceptional care for your pet so that you don’t have to worry about his or her needs while you’re away. The first step: fill out our new customer application! Next, we will need a copy of your dog’s current vaccinations (Bordetella, Distemper & Rabies) along with a clean fecal in the last year (last month for puppies). Then, we schedule a trial day where your dog will need to arrive at Dog Daze Playcare between 7-9am and stay until 2pm sharp (if you need to pickup after 2 but before 6 we can arrange that for an extra fee). We will do introductions to staff members as well as other dogs and then give feedback on how your pup does during introductions as well as in our playgroups via a report card. Once your dog’s trial day is completed, we can move forward with scheduling daycare or boarding accordingly!
A: At Dog Daze Playcare, we provide open playtime under the supervision of a trained attendant. Your dog will enjoy pack playtime with other dogs in both an indoor and outdoor setting. Dogs get great stimulation and exercise!
A: Dogs are pack animals. In the wild, dogs are never alone – they’re always with a group or pack. Yet when a dog becomes part of our family, we expect them to adjust to our schedule, which often means 8 or more hours a day alone when we’re at work or school. To a dog, that’s boring, lonely and scary! It’s the opposite of how dogs think and feel. Dog Daze Playcare recreates the instinctual pack environment for your dog. By bringing your dog to Dog Daze Playcare, he or she interacts with other dogs and people during the day, so they never feel alone. They’re not left to their own mischief in your home or yard where they can damage your property or annoy the neighbors with constant barking or howling. They get beneficial attention, exercise and most important of all – love – from our caring staff!
A: First, fill out our online registration form. Next, please provide us with your dog’s medical records (email us, or upload them onto your account). Then, call and we will get your pup added to our daycare waiting list! The wait time currently varies based on size and what day(s) of the week your pup will attend daycare. In the meantime, if you’d like, you can make an appointment (humans only) to see Dog Daze Playcare and meet our staff! We perform an initial behavior assessment to make sure your dog is a good fit for our program.
Dogs must be current on the following to enroll:
- (DHLPP) Distemper
- Bordetella
- Rabies (must provide a rabies certificate or document with printed tag number)
- Negative Fecal Float
Pets over one year of age should be spayed or neutered. All pets must be on an active flea and tick control program. We also ask that you do not bring sick pets to our facility.
A: Dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper series (Dist, Lepto, parvo, parainfluenza) and Bordetella (for canine cough), and must have a negative fecal test result within the past year. We’ll need you to bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records (with rabies certificate or documentation that includes the tag number) from your veterinarian so we can keep it on file. Dogs must also be on regular preventative treatment for fleas, ticks and heartworm.
A: Nothing but a 5-6′ flat leash and a quick-release buckle collar. Please, DO NOT bring retractable leashes! We have bowls and bedding, etc. If your dog needs lunch, please bring in a labeled baggie or small container.
A: Yes! Puppies especially need good socialization when they’re young so they understand that their pack extends to other dogs and people outside of their immediate “family.” We accept puppies current on vaccinations as young as 8 weeks for playcare and training sessions.
A: Our peak periods are our busiest times of year. During these times, boarding dates are non-changeable, boarding deposits are non-refundable, and your deposit will be equal to half of the total nightly stay. Stays during these times have a 2-night minimum requirement to prevent an excessive rotation of dogs. We understand the holidays are a busy time for everyone, and we strive to help our clients have a stress-free experience so your pup can have a fun & safe time while you are away!
A: Dogs who haven’t boarded with us before will need a 2-night stay minimum on their first visit to Dog Daze. If you would like your dog to interact with other dogs, there is a $20 evaluation fee associated with this first boarding as well. The 2-night stay helps us ensure your pup is comfortable and happy during their stay and when meeting new friends for the first time. We give each new pup time to get accustomed to our facility (lots of new smells and sights!) on their first day, and we introduce them to doggie friends on the second day during an evaluation. After this initial visit, you can feel free to schedule 1-night visits, evaluation-free (as long as we are not in a peak period, or it hasn’t been over 1 year since we’ve seen your pup)!
You can check out our Boarding page for information regarding what to bring and what will be needed prior to scheduling a boarding with us!
A: Yes, all packages expire 60 days from purchase.
A: All breeds are welcome. However, each dog must pass an individual behavior assessment, and we reserve the right to refuse any dog that exhibits anti-social or aggressive tendencies
A: Dogs have free choice all morning and afternoon! They can run, wrestle, play, or rest as they choose. We go in and outside every 20-30 minutes for potty breaks. All dogs nap from 11a.m.-1 p.m. in their crates (we have enough for everyone).
